DIRECTIONS: Head north from Vancouver on Hwy 99 to the Duffy Lake Road. Turn right onto Blowdown FSR immediately after the first avalanche control gates about 3.5 km east of Duffy Lake. The trailhead is another 9 km. The road is 2wd and only requires (modest) high clearance for the last 0.5 km to the trailhead to get through a series of waterbars.
[As of summer 2017 this is not 2WD accessible due to avalanche debris from last winter down on the road. A high clearance SUV can make it] create
SUMMARY: The route is initially the same as that for Blowdown Pass. Once at the pass, turn left (north) up the slope and ascend steeply over rocks and heather for a few hundred metres to gain a false summit. The views here are already superb, so this makes a suitable end point. However, it is well worth continuing on to Gott Peak, another km away, for an even grander perspective. Drop down from this summit (losing about 50 m) and follow the ridgeline up to the main summit at 2511 m for endless views all round. Return via the same route.
The distance and elevation gain are approximate (based on a map measurement). The gain is cumulative and includes the loss and re-gaining of 50 m at the false summit.create
